The Czech designed Sa vz. 58 looks and feels quality-made. I have no experience with it, though I have seen several for sale over the past few years. That price seems to be in the ballpark. It does shoot 7.62x39, however if you purchase one you will need to acquire plenty of magazines, because AK-47 mags won't work in this weapon...

I know. I'll make sure to grab a bunch before the federal assault weapons ban redux.

They are a pound lighter and much smaller than an AK. Milled receiver! Still in service in Slovania and some other country I think.

Downside would be the unique magazines they use. They don't interchange with AK mags, so get as many as you need now before they're gone. The mags are also much lighter than AK mags though.

I'll have my folding stock model soon. Already have the receiver and kit.

Stamped is lighter; milled is more accurate.

Also, cost and ease of manufacturing. Stamped is cheap and easy, milled is time-consuming and requires more specialised machinery. Milled is better
any day of the week if you want a weapon that will last and take severe
punishment.

Check this guys site out, it rocks:

I love living in CA... I can simply ignore these threads about weapons I would like to have, saves me a lot of reading time...
